01/30/2007 - Minneapolis, MN (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Kevin Garnett scored a season-high 44 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Minnesota Timberwolves ended the Phoenix Suns winning streak at 17 games with a 121-112 victory at the Target Center.

Ricky Davis added 17 points and eight assists and Marko Jaric had 11 points for the Timberwolves, who have won two straight and improved to 2-2 under new head coach Randy Wittman.

Steve Nash had 20 points and 18 assists for the Suns, who suffered only their third loss in 36 games. Raja Bell led Phoenix with 26 points and Shawn Marion had 24 points and 10 boards, as the Suns' franchise-record win streak came to a halt.

Leandro Barbosa added 17 points for Phoenix, which lost for the first time since dropping a 101-99 decision at Dallas on December 28. The setback also ended the Suns' nine-game road win streak, as the team finished a five-game road trip 4-1.

Down 101-98 early in the fourth quarter, Minnesota scored eight straight points to take the lead for good. Randy Foye scored four of the points, Davis' bucket gave the Timberwolves a 102-101 edge and Mark Madsen's turnaround jumper ended it for a 106-101 advantage.

Phoenix later drew within 108-107 on a Marion three-pointer, but Garnett took over and scored eight of the next 10 points for the Timberwolves, who extended their lead to 118-109 over that span.

Minnesota then managed to survive the final two-plus minutes to come away with the win.

Madsen ended with six points for the Timberwolves, who trailed 31-29 after one quarter and 68-60 at halftime. Mark Blount and Trenton Hassell added 10 points apiece for Minnesota, which drew within 95-94 after three quarters.

Amare Stoudemire was held to just 10 points for the Suns, who hit 15 three- pointers compared to just five for the Timberwolves.

Game Notes
