01/29/2007 - New York, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Duke and North Carolina remained the top two teams in the latest Associated Press women's college basketball poll.
Duke (21-0) earned 41 first-place votes and 1,241 points from a nationwide media panel to keep the top spot for the third straight week.
North Carolina (23-0) picked up the other nine No. 1 tallies and 1,209 points to hold on to the second slot.
Tennessee, despite a 77-74 loss to Duke last Monday, moved up one spot to third after Maryland dropped an 84-71 decision to North Carolina on Sunday. The Terps fell to fourth.
Ohio State, Connecticut, LSU, Stanford, Oklahoma and Purdue completed the top-10.
The second 10 consisted of George Washington, Arizona State, Baylor, Georgia, Vanderbilt, Marquette, Bowling Green, Texas A&M, Louisville and Middle Tennessee.
California, Nebraska, Rutgers, Wisconsin-Green Bay and James Madison were the last five ranked teams.
Rutgers returned to the poll after being ranked 12th to start the season, but the Scarlet Knights have won seven of their last eight, including a victory over then-No. 23 Michigan State on Sunday.
Wisconsin-Green Bay and James Madison earned rankings for the first time this season. UW-Green Bay has won 14 straight and was last ranked during the 2004-05 campaign, while James Madison reached the poll for the first time since the 1987-88 season.
Michigan State, Ole Miss and Texas fell out of the rankings this week. All three suffered two losses last week.
